Pirate Economics
Economists Russ Roberts and Peter Leeson discuss the economics of 18th century pirates in this really interesting podcast. It's a fun and light hearted discussion. I love the title of the book: The Invisible Hook. Go listen you scallywags. Arrggghhhh!

Doug Melvin Doesn't Get Much Fanmail, Eh?
I'm not sure what exactly Doug Melvin does all day but he must have had some free time after the Gwynn-Gerut trade because he got my autograph request back to me pretty quick. I sent it on 5/18/09 and got it back today on 5/27/09.

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.— Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)
